Challenge
NATO HQ initiated an initiative to replace old legacy technologies by an integrated ERP system in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of its business processes in the areas of Finance, Budgeting, Procurement and Human Resources.
Project approach
Frans Beckers, ARCH partner, guided NATO in the development of the overall release planning, the development of the ERP Strategy, the implementation approach, the selection of the System Integrator and the daily management of the project. The major focus was to deliver an ambitious but realistic and predictable program, using a delivery framework linking functional requirements to ERP configuration, testing and training of end users. Fundamental audience analysis, business impact analysis and the creation of a strong NATO business process and change coordinator network were key differentiators for the success of the project.
Result
This challenge was achieved by the harmonization and streamlining of standardized business processes and functionalities using “Out of the Box” ERP functionality and rigurous project and change management. This allowed for a “vanilla” ERP implementation approach and minimized the need for additional customizations. The project was delivered on time and within budget and some 1.200 NATO users are currently performing daily business transactions using Oracle EBS.
